Some Professions are Regulated

Although Canada has shortages in many professional occupations, and relies on immigrants to fill those shortages, it can be very difficult to become qualified to practice here. In all of the Canadian provinces, many professions are "regulated". This means the provincial government has enacted laws that define who can practice the profession and what qualifications they must have. Each profession has an Occupational Regulatory Body, which has responsibility for determining who is qualified to practice here.
