Shadi Norman is an immigration practitioner and a full member in good standing of the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants (CSIC), membership ID number M0 42147and member of the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants (CAPIC). She worked as an employment counsellor for Skills for Change a leading non profit agency in Toronto She worked with Foreign trained engineers, health care workers and Accountants and gained extensive experience in guiding them through the complex maze of licensing, career, and education options in Canada SHE SAYS "I WANT TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN NEWCOMERS AND EMPLOYERS" Her philosophy is to work closely with clients, emphasizing vocational assessment to promote self-understanding, marketing, and thorough research for a realistic appreciation of job factors and future trends. Shadi has particular interests in on-line employment counseling, Provincial Nominee Programs, SERVICE CANADA LABOUR MARKET OPINIONS and HRSDC VALIDATIONS for Arranged Employment, career resources, and future trends within the Canadian labor market. Since April 2000, Shadi has assisted over 1200 clients from the UK and other parts of the world with job search, job placements and Licensing issues. She says “being job ready is next important thing than getting a visa to Canada.She says, simply having a job offer does not guarantee you that you will be successful once you arrive in Canada. She also participated actively in developing the Job Search Curriculum of STIC program, especially designed for Foreign Trained Professionals. Sector Terminology Information and Counseling (STIC) is an employment preparation program that assists newcomers in several fields. This program provides comprehensive information on certification and licensure, sector regulations, and labor market trends to help newcomers develop realistic action plans to enter their professions in Canada. In addition, participants learn the terminology of their occupation as it is used at work, in job advertisements, and in testing/licensure. Portfolio development is also a core component of the program. Through detailed occupational profiles, participants assess their skills and background against the competencies and requirements necessary to practice their professions in Ontario. Using the language of employers and regulatory bodies, they develop a portfolio to highlight their skills and experience relevant to the needs of the Ontario job market. Participants in this program are also assisted with job search through individual counseling, employer outreach, and a post-program Job Finding Club. Currently, Shadi provides information to foreign trained professionals about licensing, job search and lab our market conditions in the UK and European countries. She is also a regular column writer in career articles published in Canada News in the UK.
