Weather

The Northwest Territories are located above the Arctic Circle, so summer is by far the most pleasant season. With the sun out as much as 24 hours a day, the temperature can reach a balmy 31 C.

Yellowknife's average summer high is 21 C. In the Mackenzie Valley, which is warmest and has the most rain and snow, 32 C is possible.

The winter is dark (short days, or none at all in the northern parts of the territories), and it's cold (January temperatures in Yellowknife range from -32 C to a high of -24 C).
