The climate for Newfoundland and Labrador varies quite a bit, from the moderate temperatures enjoyed by the island to the extremes found in Labrador. Labrador's northerly location means long, dark, very cold winters, while average temperatures in St. John's during January run -8 to -1 C, with snow that sometimes turns to rain.

In summer, the coasts will be cooler and foggier than inland. Coastal temperatures in the summer generally peak around 21 C for most of July and August, though it can get warmer.
